Day 23: 22-Apr-2016 The Crossing

Day 23 21-Apr-2016 Friday

0000 Position: 7* 14’ S and 133* 22’ West

Uneventful night.

0600: David makes contact with the net. Naughty Naughty will make landfall today. They are presently at 8* S 137* W. David has agreed to be the net controller for the net couple of days. Those years as a radio officer will come in handy. Plus he has such a nice radio voice.

0700: Heavy downpour and more entertainment from Ethyl. Too bad he did not get Go Pro footage of Ethyl singing in the rain! She sat perched on the pulpit with wings spread and head tilted, chirping away. Then she would fly around to dry off her feathers. She would make a few fly bys of the boat and then land on the pulpit again - this time facing the other way - spread her wings - and wash the other side, continuing to sing and catch rain water in her beak. All David could think of was the musical “Singing in the Rain”. It is a wonder he did not start dancing!

0600: Seas are 33 feet with a 1 foot chop
     90%. Cloud cover
Speed 4.5 knots with a reeled main.
Winds are 10 knots from the SE

1000: Armon is up. Light breakfast of peanut butter and toast to use up the last of the bread.

1100:Captain to bed David had moved the blue pail in order to collect the rain water a little better. There was enough to fill the solar shower and for a fresh water rinse of the laundry.

Armon does a hand repair job of the handle on our salt water pail - precious as this is the one we use for our showers!
