Day Twenty-Two: 21-Apr-2016 The Crossing

Day 22 21-Apr-2016 Thursday

Squalls abated over the night.

It is a mainly sunny day. Winds are Easterly at 10-12 knots. Full sails out and w e are maintaining a comfortable speed of 6.2 knots. I am not sure why we do not have a position for this morning - guess I was still sleeping. David relays it on the net but doesn’t tend to write it down anywhere.

News from the morning net has four boats making landfall tomorrow. David talked to Mike on St. Leger in Puerto Escondido.

I am enjoying a nice cup of coffee and then I will continue to enter my journal into the Mac.

1130: Armon is up so that means time to get the coffee on and prepare something for brunch. Smoked pork chops with scrambled eggs - mixed in the leftover Hollandaise sauce - mmmm good. If I say so myself.

A trying day for the Captain. He decided to swap out the heads and it did not go well - I mean getting sprayed with shit is never on anyone’s wish list. 3 hours later, the head appears to be working, but there is still a small leak around the bottom of the handle. To repair or replace would require another haul out and no one is up to it. So we are back to the pail. After many rebuilds - I will bring up the discussion of replacing the head with a cheaper Jabsco system. But not today. Today we are all just keeping very quiet. No need to point out the obvious!

  1. Was sorry to read that you were back to using the PAIL! After all the problems (I remember the issues as far back as 2013...!), it really is time to change brands. Jabsco may be "cheap", but they are easy to fix (spare parts and 30 minutes or less) and cheap to replace if needed. (Can't believe I am writing a comment recommending a head....)

    Cheers,
    David
